MARC PEREZ OLIVÁN BIO

Oliván-2950-Untitled-XII.png

b. 1951

Marc Pérez Oliván was born in 1951 in Mauritania. In 1962, at the young age of 12, he moved with his family to Barcelona, a traumatic transition for the young Oliván. He later said that he found the adaptation from desert to ocean disorienting.

Throughout the 70s, Oliván’s diverse interests were reflected in his body of work. He started work in 1971 as an advertising draughtsman but also turned his attention to comics, commercial decorating and window dressing. By 1972, he was a graphic editor and cover designer for several magazines and publishers. Soon after, he was participating in collective and individual murals in Madrid and Barcelona.

Since the late 70s, Oliván has found success in a number of vocations including illustrations for a book of poetry, stage design for the theatre, tourism projects and handcrafted toys, all while presenting his individual artworks in several collective exhibitions.
